Easy Steps to Organize Your Kitchen Drawers

Welcome to our comprehensive guide on organizing your kitchen drawers like a pro! Are your kitchen drawers a jumbled mess, making it a daily struggle to find utensils and tools? Fear not, because we have a step-by-step plan to help you regain control and create a functional and visually appealing drawer setup. In this article, we'll walk you through the process of counting and dividing your drawers, decluttering, cleaning, and deciding on the need for organizers or liners. Get ready to transform your kitchen drawers into organized havens that will make cooking and meal prep a breeze.

Step 1- Count the number of drawers you have in your kitchen and divide the number of kitchen drawers you have by 5.

Step 2- Go through the daily number of drawers using the calculations in step one. Example: If you have 15 drawers in your kitchen… 15 drawers divided by 5 days equals 3 drawers to organize per day for 5 days.

·         Remove all items from the drawers

·         Clean the drawers

·         Decide if you need drawer organizers or drawer liners

·         Find or purchase drawer organizers or liners if you feel they will make your kitchen more efficient

·         Decide if the items need to be trashed, donated, relocated, repaired, or replaced

·         If items need to be trashed, donated, relocated, repaired, or replaced do not put them back in the
drawer

·         Relocate the items that need to be relocated

·         Place items that need to be repaired somewhere close to the door so you remember to have them
repaired

·         Place items that you prefer to replace into a large container to resell, donate, or trash.

·         Write a list of the items that you would like to replace

·         If you have duplicate items and you are not ready to purge, place them together so later you can
decide if you would like to keep one or keep the duplicates.

Step 3- Return items to the drawers in an organized fashion.

Note about organizing drawers: When looking through Pinterest you will see many ways to organize kitchen drawers. If possible, drawers look best when things are similar in color and size. Below is my favorite Pin of a utensil drawer as an example.

Step 4- For the next four days continue going through the daily number of drawers using the calculations in step one.

As you embark on your journey to organize your kitchen drawers, remember that consistency is key. Follow the daily drawer count and tackle them one by one. Consider investing in drawer organizers or liners to maximize your space and enhance efficiency. Take the time to evaluate each item and decide if it needs to be relocated, repaired, replaced, donated, or discarded. Create a designated container for items to resell, donate, or discard, and make a list of items you'd like to replace. And remember, for a visually pleasing drawer setup, aim for uniformity in color and size. With determination and our expert tips, you'll soon bid farewell to drawer chaos and welcome a well-organized kitchen that inspires culinary creativity.
