Easy Steps to Organize Your Kitchen Cabinets

Welcome to the ultimate guide on organizing your kitchen cabinets! Are you tired of rummaging through cluttered cabinets and struggling to find what you need? Fear not, because we have a step-by-step plan to help you conquer the chaos and transform your kitchen into an organized oasis. In this article, we'll walk you through the process of counting and dividing your cabinets, decluttering, cleaning, and deciding on the need for organizers or shelf liners. Get ready to tackle those challenging cabinets and create a functional kitchen space that will make your daily routine a breeze.

Clearing clutter and getting organized, especially in the kitchen, eliminates stress because it’s more efficient.

Step 1- Count the number of cabinets you have in your kitchen and divide the number of kitchen cabinets you have by 6. Do Not include under the sink, the spice cabinet, baked goods cabinet if you have one, and do not include the pantry. The following articles will help you tackle these more challenging cabinets.

Step 2- Go through the daily number of cabinets using the calculations in step one. Example: If you have 20 cabinets in your kitchen… 20 cabinets divided by 6 days equals 3 cabinets to organize per day for 6 days.

·         Remove all items from the cabinets

·         Clean the cabinets

·         Decide if you need cabinet organizers or shelf liners

·         Find or purchase cabinet organizers or liners if you feel they will make your kitchen more efficient

·         Decide if the items need to be trashed, donated, relocated, repaired, or replaced

·         If items need to be trashed, donated, relocated, repaired, or replaced do not put them back in the
cabinets

·         Relocate the items that need to be relocated

·         Place items that need to be repaired somewhere close to the door so you remember to have them
repaired

·         Place items that you prefer to replace into large containers labeled resell, donate, or trash.

·         Write a list of the items that you would like to replace

·         If you have duplicate items and you are not ready to purge, place them together so later you can
decide if you would like to keep one or keep all duplicates as a collection.
Later you can decide how to display the collection.

Step 3- Return items to the cabinets in an organized fashion.

Note about organizing cabinets: When looking through Pinterest you will see many ways to organize kitchen cabinets. If possible, cabinets look best when things are similar in color and size. Below are a few of my favorite Pins of cabinets as an example.

Step 4- For the next five days continue going through the daily number of cabinets using the calculations in step one.

As you embark on this journey to organize your kitchen cabinets, remember that consistency is key. Follow the daily cabinet count and tackle them one by one. Consider investing in cabinet organizers or shelf liners to optimize your space and make it more efficient. Take the time to evaluate each item and decide if it needs to be relocated, repaired, replaced, donated, or discarded. Create labeled containers for items to resell, donate, or discard, and make a list of items you'd like to replace. And don't forget, when it comes to organizing, aesthetics matter too! Aim for uniformity in color and size for a visually pleasing cabinet setup. So roll up your sleeves, put on your organizing hat, and get ready to transform your kitchen cabinets into a haven of order and functionality. Your future self will thank you every time you open those beautifully organized cabinets!
