Under Your Kitchen Sink Can be a Visual Experience if You Organize it With That Intention

Typically items you may want to relocate live under the kitchen sink. It seems to be where families toss things so they do not have to walk another step. After preparing, cooking, and cleaning, who can blame them?

Step 1- Opening the cabinet under the kitchen sink can be a visual experience that makes us feel organized and accomplished if it is organized with that intention.

·         Remove all items from under the kitchen sink.

·         Give it a good cleaning

·         This is the one place I recommend a waterproof shelf liner to manage dampness

·         Decide if any of the items need to be relocated, repaired, or replaced

·         Reload the containers of dish soap and hand wash

·         If you have two of the same hand soap or cleaning product pour them together into one container and trash or recycle the other one

·         Throw out the old sponges and replace them with fresh ones

·         Take the used rags and dish towels to the laundry

·         If items need to be relocated, repaired, or replaced, do not put them back in the cabinet

·         Relocate the items that need to be relocated

·         Place items that need to be repaired somewhere close to the door so you remember to have them repaired

·         Write a list of the items that you would like to replace

Step 2- Find or purchase the storage containers you feel will make this space more efficient. Take advantage of the insides of your cabinet doors with a shallow shelf or a hook. They’re a great place to store items that need to dry, like dish towels, sponges, or rubber gloves.

Step 3- Return items under the kitchen sink in an organized fashion.

Note about organizing under the kitchen sink: When looking through Pinterest you will see many ways to organize under the kitchen sink. If possible, cabinets look best when things are similar in colors and tones. Below are three of my favorite Pins as an example.
